So nice to meet you! First off, what’s your name? Tell our readers a bit about yourself—where you’re from originally and where you live now.
I’m Andrea Knoche, a podcast host, media personality, content creator, and storyteller originally from Ontario, Canada. I moved to the United States when I was 18 and spent more than two decades building a successful career in the mortgage industry before an unexpected layoff gave me the push to pursue a completely different path.
Today, I’m based in Long Beach, California, where I’ve built a career around storytelling, connection, and reinvention. I’m the creator and host of From Mrs. to Ms., a podcast inspired by my own experience navigating divorce, dating, and rediscovering who I was after a 20-year marriage.
I’m also the creator and host of Menopause Love Lounge, where I bring women together for candid, often hilarious conversations about menopause, relationships, sex, aging, and everything we were never really prepared for.
What began with me sharing the funny, messy, and sometimes painful realities of starting over has grown into a much bigger media journey that includes podcasting, on-camera hosting, brand partnerships, and content creation. At the heart of everything I do is a desire to create conversations that make women feel seen, understood, and excited about what can come next.
Tell us one thing you love about where you live now?
I’m right in the middle of my younger son, Grant, in Hollywood and my older son, Hunter, in Mission Viejo.
Tell us a little bit more about what your company does and how it started? How does it help your customers?
From Mrs. to Ms. started in 2023 from a very personal place. After going through a divorce following a 20-year marriage, I found myself navigating dating, relationships, and rediscovering who I was in a completely different stage of life. I started sharing my dating stories with friends—the good, the bad, and the completely ridiculous—and realized there were so many women going through the same things who weren’t necessarily talking about them. That became the foundation for the podcast.
Over time, From Mrs. to Ms. grew beyond dating into conversations about relationships, confidence, boundaries, heartbreak, personal growth, and what it means to create a life you genuinely love after a major transition.
That journey also led me to create Menopause Love Lounge, which tackles another chapter women are often expected to navigate without enough honest conversation. We talk openly about menopause, aging, sex, relationships, and the changes happening in our bodies and our lives.
I don’t think of the people who listen and follow along as customers as much as I think of them as a community. My goal is to create the conversations women are already having with their closest girlfriends—or sometimes are afraid to have at all. Through humor, vulnerability, expert perspectives, and real-life experiences, I want women to feel less alone in what they’re going through and remind them that there is no expiration date on dating, love, confidence, reinvention, or creating an entirely new chapter for yourself.
If someone wants to start a business, what advice would you give them?
My biggest piece of advice is to start before you feel completely ready because if you wait until everything is perfect, you may never start at all. I definitely did not have every step figured out when I began. I learned as I went, made mistakes, changed direction, and kept showing up.
I also think it’s important not to get so caught up in what everyone else is doing that you lose what makes you different. Your story, your personality, and your perspective are often the very things that will set you apart.
I would also say to be prepared to work harder and wear more hats than you ever imagined. Building something of your own requires consistency, patience, and a willingness to keep going even when the results aren’t immediate. Celebrate the small wins because they are what eventually create the big ones.
Most importantly, don’t let age, fear, or starting over convince you that you’ve missed your opportunity. Sometimes the thing you build later in life ends up being the thing you were meant to do all along.
What was one feedback from a happy customer/client that you won't forget about?
I’ve had multiple guests say that this was one of their favorite podcasts to be on and that it felt like a conversation rather than an interview. I love hearing that!
Where do you see your company in the future?
I would love for my podcasts to be picked up by a network, where I can share more of what I’ve learned and what I love with people going through the same things. I anticipate this happening!
What is the biggest misconception about your industry?
I think the biggest misconception is that podcasting and content creation are easy because people only see the finished product. They see an episode, a social media clip, or a fun conversation, but they don’t see everything happening behind the scenes.
There is research, booking guests, preparing interviews, recording, editing, marketing, social media, analytics, brand partnerships, and constantly figuring out how to grow and evolve. You are not just a host. You are also a producer, marketer, salesperson, creative director, and sometimes your own tech support.
It takes an incredible amount of consistency to build an audience and earn their trust. Anyone can start a podcast or create content, but building something people continue to come back to is the real work.
What has been one of your biggest struggle building your business and how did you deal with it?
One of my biggest struggles has been learning how to build something from the ground up while doing so much of it myself. I came from more than 20 years in the mortgage industry, so stepping into podcasting, media, and content creation meant learning an entirely new business. There was no roadmap.
I had to teach myself everything from production and editing to social media, marketing, pitching brands, booking guests, and understanding what actually grows an audience.
There have definitely been moments when it felt overwhelming, especially when you’re putting in an enormous amount of work and the growth doesn’t happen as quickly as you want it to. I’ve dealt with that by staying consistent, being willing to learn, and not being afraid to change something when it isn’t working.
I’ve also learned not to measure success only by numbers. Sometimes success is an email from a woman telling me an episode helped her through a difficult time, landing a guest I once thought was out of reach, or simply looking back and realizing how much I’ve built from an idea I decided to take a chance on.
Who was your favorite music artist and athlete growing up?
My son, Grant Knoche, has been and will always be my favorite music artist. He’s a singer, songwriter, producer, and dancer, and we are manifesting Best New Artist at the Grammys in 2028! He is a pop artist and unbelievably talented!
Any shoutouts you want to make?
Shoutout to my sons, Grant and Hunter Knoche! They are both such sweet human beings. They have so much drive and passion, and they are both so supportive of everything I’ve done and everything I’m creating—even when I’m talking about subjects they don’t want to hear me talking about. LOL!
