Kimberly Naslund
Hey! So nice to speak with you! Can you tell our readers a little bit more about yourself? Where are you originally from and where do you live now?
My name is Brandon Kingston. I’m originally from Utah and still live here today. I’m a functional neurologist and the founder of Bright Minds Neurodevelopment, where I focus on helping families understand and improve brain development in a practical, real-world way.
Tell us one thing you love about where you live now?
One thing I really love about Utah is the balance. You have access to incredible nature—mountains, trails, and open space, but also a strong sense of community. It creates an environment that supports both personal growth and family life, which aligns well with the work I do.
Tell us a little bit more about what your company does and how it started? How does it help your customers?
Bright Minds Neurodevelopment is a practice and education platform focused on helping children and families address neurological challenges at the root level. We specialize in functional neurology, brain development, and primitive reflex integration.
It started from a very personal place. I struggled with anxiety growing up, and through studying the brain and applying what I learned, I was able to completely resolve it. That experience opened my eyes to how powerful proper brain development and nervous system regulation can be.
Now, we help families understand why symptoms like ADHD, anxiety, learning struggles, or emotional dysregulation are happening—and more importantly, what they can do about it. We translate complex neuroscience into simple, practical steps families can use at home, giving them clarity and confidence instead of confusion.
If someone wants to start a business, what advice will help them?
Focus on solving a real problem, not just building a product. The more deeply you understand the person you’re trying to help—their frustrations, fears, and goals—the more effective your business will be.
Also, don’t wait until everything is perfect. Start, test, adjust, and improve. Clarity comes through action, not overthinking.
What was one feedback from a happy customer/client that you won't forget about?
There has been so much wonderful feedback. one moment I’ll never forget was a mother who came in after working with her child for a period of time. Her child had struggled with communication and wouldn't talk at all. After consistent work, her child started talking again.
She broke down crying in the clinic—not out of frustration, but out of relief and gratitude. She said it felt like she had her child back.
Moments like that remind me that this work goes far beyond symptoms—it impacts families, relationships, and a child’s future. That’s what drives everything we do.
Where do you see your company in the future?
I see Bright Minds evolving into a global platform that makes brain development education accessible to every family, regardless of location.
We’re continuing to expand our digital programs, community, and resources so parents can confidently support their children from home. Long-term, the goal is to shift how people understand neurological challenges—from something to manage, to something that can be developed and improved.
What is the biggest misconception about your industry?
The biggest misconception is that many neurological challenges are permanent or purely genetic, and that the only option is management through medication or long-term therapy.
In reality, many of these challenges are developmental. When you address the underlying brain function and nervous system regulation, real change is possible.
What has been one of your biggest struggles building your business and how did you deal with it?
One of the biggest struggles has been building trust while offering an approach that challenges conventional thinking.
When you present solutions that are different from what people are used to, there’s naturally skepticism. I had to focus on consistency, education, and results—showing people, not just telling them.
Over time, that trust compounds, but early on it required a lot of patience and belief in the mission.
Any shoutouts you want to make?
I’d like to give a shoutout to the families we work with. The parents who are willing to learn, take action, and advocate for their kids are the reason this work matters. They’re the ones creating real change. And a shout out to my own Father and Mother for supporting me all through the way.
