So nice to meet you! First off, what’s your name? Tell our readers a bit about yourself—where you’re from originally and where you live now.

My name is Jurgita, and I’m the founder and designer behind JURGI. I was born and raised in Lithuania, spent several years living in Istanbul, and now I’m based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Looking back, every place I’ve lived has shaped the way I see design. Lithuania taught me simplicity and appreciation for quality craftsmanship, Istanbul inspired me with its incredible mix of tradition and creativity, and the United States gave me the confidence to build my own brand. Today, I design bags for people who appreciate thoughtful details, timeless style, and products that are made to be used—not just admired.

Tell us one thing you love about where you live now?

One of my favorite things about living in Philadelphia is the balance it offers. New York is just a short train ride away whenever I need energy, inspiration, or business opportunities, but I get to come home to a city that feels grounded and creative.

If someone wants to start a business, what advice will help them?

Don’t wait until everything is perfect. You’ll never feel completely ready. Start before you have all the answers, because your business will teach you more than any book or course ever could. And don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s tenth year. Building a brand is a marathon, not a sprint.

Where do you see your company in the future?

I hope JURGI continues to grow naturally while staying true to its identity. I want people to recognize the brand not because they see a large logo, but because they recognize the design itself. My goal is to build a company that is still relevant twenty years from now, creating products people genuinely love and keep for years.

What is the biggest misconception about your industry?

Many people think fashion is all about creativity and glamorous events. In reality, it’s a business built on problem-solving. Behind every collection are countless decisions about production, materials, logistics, quality control, and customer experience. Creativity is only one part of the job—the rest is persistence.

Any shoutouts you want to make?

I’d like to give a heartfelt thank you to my customers for believing in JURGI and supporting an independent brand. I’d also like to thank my family, my friends, and my husband for standing by me through the ups and downs of building a business. Their encouragement, patience, and belief in me have made this journey possible. I’m truly grateful to everyone who has been a part of it.
