My name is Alex C. AnGelo, and I’m a spiritual life coach, tarot reader, and astrology specialist based in Brooklyn, New York. I’m originally from Baku, Azerbaijan, and my journey from there to building a life and practice in New York has shaped much of who I am today.

My work is centered on helping people understand themselves more deeply, especially during periods of uncertainty, transition, or emotional difficulty. I combine tarot, astrology, intuitive guidance, and spiritual life coaching, but I always try to keep my approach grounded and practical. For me, spirituality isn’t about telling someone what their life is supposed to be—it’s about helping them recognize patterns, gain clarity, and make more conscious choices for themselves.

Tell us one thing you love about where you live now?

What I love most about living in New York is the incredible diversity of people and perspectives. Brooklyn especially has given me the opportunity to meet people from completely different cultures, backgrounds, beliefs, and walks of life. As someone who came here from Baku, Azerbaijan, I’ve always appreciated being in a place where individuality is not only accepted but celebrated. That diversity has also influenced my work as a spiritual guide, because every person who comes to me carries a completely different story. New York constantly reminds me that there is never just one path through life—and I think that is one of the most beautiful things about this city.

Tell us a little bit more about what your company does and how it started? How does it help your customers?

My business, Alex AnGelo Spiritual Guidance, grew from something that had already been part of my life for many years: a deep interest in astrology, tarot, spirituality, and understanding human behavior. Over time, I realized that these tools could be used for much more than simply trying to predict what might happen next. When approached thoughtfully, they can become powerful systems for self-reflection, recognizing patterns, and gaining a different perspective on the choices we make.

Today, I offer tarot consultations, astrology readings, spiritual life coaching, relationship and compatibility guidance, and private classes. I work with people who may be navigating relationships, career decisions, major life transitions, or simply trying to understand themselves on a deeper level.

What distinguishes my approach is that I don’t want a client to leave a session feeling dependent on me or frightened by a prediction.

My goal is clarity and empowerment. I combine traditional tarot and astrological techniques with intuition, careful listening, and practical conversation to help clients see their circumstances from perspectives they may not have considered before.

I’ve also been fortunate to bring this work beyond private sessions through events, collaborations, and spiritual gatherings throughout New York City, which has allowed me to connect with an incredibly diverse community.

Ultimately, I believe a meaningful reading should give you more than answers—it should give you insight into yourself. When a client leaves feeling clearer, more confident, and better equipped to make their own decisions, that is when I know I’ve done my job.

If someone wants to start a business, what advice would you give them?

My biggest advice based on my experience is to start with purpose, but understand that purpose alone is not enough—you also need consistency. When I began building my spiritual guidance business, I learned that having knowledge or talent is only the beginning. You have to show up, build trust, communicate what makes your work different, and be willing to grow along the way.

Don’t try to imitate everyone else in your industry. Find the part of your story, experience, or approach that genuinely belongs to you and build around that. People are drawn to authenticity, especially in a business as personal as mine.

I also believe you shouldn’t wait until everything is perfect. Start with what you have, listen carefully to your clients, learn from what doesn’t work, and keep improving. A successful business isn’t built in one big moment—it’s built through hundreds of small decisions to keep going.

Most importantly, never forget the human being on the other side of the transaction. If people genuinely feel respected, understood, and valued, they will remember the experience you gave them—and that is something no marketing strategy can replace.

What was one feedback from a happy customer/client that you won't forget about?

To be honest, there were many of those kinds of feedback throughout my spiritual career journey, but one piece of feedback that has always stayed with me came from a client who told me after our session, “You didn’t tell me what I wanted to hear—you helped me understand what I needed to see.” That meant a great deal to me because it describes exactly what I want my work to represent.

I never want a reading to simply be about making predictions or giving someone comforting answers. Sometimes people come to me feeling overwhelmed, confused about a relationship, uncertain about their career, or simply disconnected from themselves. My role is to create a space where they can slow down, look at their situation from another perspective, and recognize patterns they may have been unable to see on their own.

The most rewarding feedback is when someone contacts me later and says that our session helped them make a healthier decision, trust themselves again, or approach their situation differently. Those moments remind me that behind every tarot card and every astrological chart is a real human being with a real story. That is something I never take for granted.

Where do you see your company in the future?

I always had the vision of my business evolving into something much larger than individual tarot or astrology sessions. My long-term vision is to build Alex AnGelo Spiritual Guidance into a recognizable and trusted personal-development and spiritual guidance brand, while never losing the personal connection that my work was built on.

I would love to expand my private practice, develop more tarot and astrology classes, workshops, group experiences, and live events, and continue collaborating with other professionals in the spiritual and wellness communities. Considering my consultations are also available to people beyond New York through online sessions, seminars, educational content, and eventually programs that allow me to reach a broader audience across the U.S., my next destination is to make my business accessible internationally across the globe.

At the same time, I should add that growth for me isn’t simply about becoming bigger. I want to become better at what I do. I want clients to associate my name with integrity, depth, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to helping people find clarity in their lives.

Ultimately, I hope to create a community around this work—a place where spirituality feels empowering and approachable rather than intimidating. If my business continues growing while still making people feel seen, understood, and more confident in themselves, I will consider that real success.

What is the biggest misconception about your industry?

I think the biggest misconception about my industry is that tarot and astrology are simply about predicting the future or telling people exactly what is going to happen. That has never been the way I approach this work.

To me, tarot and astrology are systems of interpretation and self-reflection. They can help us examine patterns, relationships, timing, emotional dynamics, strengths, challenges, and possibilities from a different perspective. A responsible spiritual guide should never make a client feel that their future is completely predetermined or that they have no control over their own choices.

Another misconception is that spiritual guidance cannot be professional or grounded. I take my work and the trust of my clients very seriously. I believe intuition and spirituality can exist alongside critical thinking, honest conversation, personal responsibility, and practical decision-making.

I don’t want people to leave my sessions afraid of the future—I want them to leave understanding themselves and their situation more clearly. For me, that is where the real value of this work begins.

What has been one of your biggest struggle building your business and how did you deal with it?

One of my biggest struggles was learning how to turn something deeply personal to me—spirituality, tarot, and astrology—into a professional business without losing the authenticity behind it. In the beginning, I realized that being knowledgeable about your craft and knowing how to build a business are two completely different skills.

I had to learn how to market myself, establish my professional identity, build credibility, communicate the value of my services, and most importantly, earn people’s trust. In this industry, trust is everything. You are often meeting people during very vulnerable or uncertain moments in their lives, so I never wanted my business to feel transactional.

I dealt with that challenge by focusing less on trying to convince everyone and more on letting the quality of my work speak for itself. I listened to my clients, learned from their feedback, continued developing my knowledge, became more involved in events and collaborations, and gradually built my reputation one genuine connection at a time.

There were definitely moments when growth was slower than I wanted, but they taught me patience. I learned that credibility isn’t something you can manufacture overnight—it is something you earn. Looking back, that struggle actually helped shape the kind of business owner and spiritual guide I wanted to become.

Who was your favorite music artist and athlete growing up?

Growing up, music had a huge influence on me. Madonna, Enya, and Sade were three artists who stood out for very different reasons. Madonna fascinated me because of her fearlessness—her ability to constantly reinvent herself, challenge expectations, and express individuality without asking for permission. There was something very empowering about that, especially for someone growing up and trying to understand their own identity.

Enya’s music connected with me on an entirely different level. There is an almost meditative and spiritual quality to her sound. Even before I could fully explain why, her music made me think about intuition, solitude, nature, emotion, and the invisible parts of ourselves. Looking back, I think that sensitivity was connected to the same curiosity that eventually drew me toward spirituality, tarot, and astrology.

And then there was Sade. I’ve always admired the emotional depth and elegance of her music. She can communicate love, longing, vulnerability, and strength without making any of it feel forced. Her music taught me that sometimes the most powerful expression is actually the quietest one.

As for athletes, I was never influenced by sports figures in the same way I was influenced by musicians, so I would rather be authentic about that than invent a favorite. Music was really my world growing up. Those artists helped shape the way I think about individuality, emotion, transformation, and spirituality—and interestingly, all of those themes eventually became part of the work I do today.

Any shoutouts you want to make?

Absolutely. First, I want to give a heartfelt shoutout to every client who has trusted me with their story and allowed me to be part of their journey. A spiritual guidance business is built on trust, and without the people who believed in my work, recommended me to others, returned for another session, or simply sent me a message saying that our conversation helped them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

I also want to recognize the New York spiritual and LGBTQ+ communities and the wonderful readers, healers, coaches, event organizers, and creative people I’ve had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with. Community has taught me that success doesn’t always have to be competitive—we can create opportunities for one another and grow together.
