So nice to meet you! First off, what’s your name? Tell our readers a bit about yourself—where you’re from originally and where you live now.
My name is Asha Ball. I am originally from Clarksdale, MS, and currently reside in Houston, Texas. I am a high end insurance agent and entrepreneur who began my entrepreneurial journey at the age of 23. My love for business led me into the insurance space. Over the years, I have built my career around serving clients and protecting what matters most while continuously pursuing opportunities for growth and innovation. I am passionate about business, learning all the ins and outs of successfully growing thriving companies, personal development, and creating a legacy of success for my family and future generations.
Tell us a little bit more about what your company does and how it started? How does it help your customers?
The Harver Insurance Company was founded from my own personal experiences and my passion for helping others protect what they've worked hard to build. Through life experiences, I learned firsthand how quickly one unexpected event can impact a person's finances, family, and future. Later, while working in personal injury law, I saw countless situations where individuals and families were underinsured and left facing significant financial hardship after an accident. Those experiences opened my eyes to the critical role insurance plays in protecting people's lives and assets.
That realization inspired me to create a business focused on education, personalized services, and proper protection. The Harver Group helps individuals, families, and business owners identify coverage gaps and secure insurance solutions that fit their unique needs. Our mission is simple: to ensure our clients have the protection they need before they need it, so one bad day doesn't erase years of hard work and financial progress.
If someone wants to start a business, what's advice that will help them?
My advice is simple: just start. Many people spend years waiting for the perfect time, but there will never be a perfect time. Find a mentor who has already achieved what you're trying to accomplish and learn as much as you can about the industry before you launch. Before entering the luxury spaces for about three years i studied the environments i needed to understand. I went to country clubs, boat events, exotic car dealerships and built relationships to really study my target market. I also planted good seeds and operate with integrity. Be professional, keep your word, and remember that your reputation is one of the most valuable assets you'll ever have. People may forget what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel and whether they could trust you.
What was one feedback from a happy customer/client that you won't forget about?
One piece of feedback I never get tired of hearing is when clients tell me how kind, patient, and knowledgeable I am. Many of my clients have shared that our conversations opened their minds to risks and coverage needs they had never considered before. What means most to me is that many of those relationships continue long after the policy is written. I still stay in touch with several clients today. Knowing that I've helped someone better protect their family, business, or future is incredibly rewarding and reminds me why I chose this industry.
Where do you see your company in the future?
I see The Harver Insurance Company becoming a nationally recognized luxury insurance agency serving high-net worth individuals, professional athletes, business owners, aviation clients, and families across multiple states and international markets. My goal is to build a company known for exceptional service, strong client relationships, and educating clients on the importance of proper protection. As our company grows, I look forward to developing strategic relationships around the world, including in global business hubs such as Dubai, where luxury, aviation, and international commerce continue to thrive. I also hope to create opportunities for others through mentorship, community involvement, and entrepreneurship while helping clients protect the assets, businesses, and lifestyles they have worked hard to build.
What is the biggest misconception about your industry?
One of the biggest misconceptions about the insurance industry is that insurance is a scam. In reality, insurance is one of the most important financial tools available to protect your family, your assets, your income, and the legacy you're working to build.
Many people become frustrated with insurance because they discover after a loss that they didn't have the right coverage for their specific situation. Insurance isn't just about having a policy its about having the proper protection. Whether it's health insurance, life insurance, auto insurance, or business coverage, every person's needs are different.
I believe insurance is powerful when it is properly understood. A good insurance professional takes the time to educate clients, understand their goals, identify potential risks, and help them choose coverage that truly fits their lives. When done correctly, insurance provides peace of mind and financial security when people need it most.
What has been one of your biggest struggles building your business and how did you deal with it?
One of the biggest challenges has been building credibility and relationships in highly competitive industries. I overcame that challenge by staying consistent even when it was really difficult, continuing education, networking with professionals, and always delivering value before expecting anything in return. Ive learned that success is built one relationship, one client, and one opportunity at a time. Persistence and faith have carried me through every obstacle I've faced as an entrepreneur.
What was your favorite music artist and athlete growing up?
Good question favorite artist Beyonce hands down and favorite athlete Kevin Durant.
Any shoutouts you want to make?
I would like to give a special shout out to my mother, my daughter and most importantly, God. My mother always encouraged me to try new things and pursue what genuinely made me happy. She never placed limits on my dreams or questioned my desire to explore different opportunities. Looking back, that freedom and support played a major role in shaping me into the entrepreneur I am today.
My daughter changed my perspective on life completely. Becoming a mother made me more focused, determined, and relentless in pursuing my goals. She gave me a greater sense of purpose and strengthened my desire to build a legacy that will impact future generations.
Above all, I give thanks to God for guiding my path, opening doors, and giving me the strength to keep moving forward through every challenge and opportunity.
