Hey! So nice to speak with you! Can you tell our readers a little bit more about yourself? Where are you originally from and where do you live now?

My name is Bonnie Elizabeth Guemez. I was born in McAllen, Texas, and raised in Mission, Texas, so the Rio Grande Valley will always be home to me. Those roots shaped who I am—hardworking, family-oriented, and deeply connected to my community.

Today, I live between McAllen and Houston, going back and forth as I continue growing my business and expanding my reach. Being in both cities allows me to serve a wider community while staying grounded in the place that raised me.

I’m passionate about what I do and about building something meaningful—not just for myself, but for the families and businesses I serve. Everything I do is driven by integrity, service, and a strong commitment to making a real difference in people’s lives.

Tell us one thing you love about where you live now?

One thing I truly love about where I live now is the contrast and opportunity it offers me.

Living between McAllen and Houston gives me the best of both worlds. In the Valley, there’s a deep sense of community—people know each other, support each other, and genuinely care. It keeps me grounded and reminds me why I do what I do. In Houston, there’s this incredible energy—diversity, innovation, movement. It challenges me to think bigger, move faster, and expand my vision.

Intellectually, I appreciate being in environments that stimulate growth in different ways. One nurtures connection; the other fuels ambition. And fun fact? I’ve learned to switch from small-town warmth to big-city momentum almost like flipping a light switch—it keeps life interesting and keeps me evolving.

Tell us a little bit more about what your company does and how it started? How does it help your customers?

Medical Concierge is a mobile medical diagnostic testing company specializing in DNA and Drug Testing. It was built on more than a service, it was built on responsibility, compassion, and truth. The company started from a simple but powerful realization after the COVID Pandemic: there was a gap between people needing fast, trustworthy testing and the inconvenience or discomfort of traditional clinic settings. What makes us different is we are open 24 hours seven days a week and we are mobile, a concierge-level approach. We go to homes, offices, hospitals, correctional facilities, or worksites. We handle the entire collection process with strict chain-of-custody procedures, ensuring results are legally defensible when needed. But beyond the technical side, we guide clients through emotional moments with clarity and integrity. At the core, Medical Concierge helps people move forward—with truth, with confidence, and with professionalism.

With DNA testing, I understand that every case represents a family in the middle of uncertainty. These are not just samples that we collect; they are questions about identity, belonging, and a child’s and family's future. My role is to handle each situation with care, discretion, and empathy. Sometimes the answers are emotional, sometimes they are difficult but they bring clarity, and clarity allows families to heal, reconnect, rebuild trust, and move forward. Being part of that process helping bring families together and supporting them through vulnerable moments is something I never take lightly.

With drug testing, our work extends far beyond employment compliance. We support rehabilitation centers in monitoring recovery, help parents who are trying to guide and protect their children, and assist guardians and caregivers in meeting state requirements to maintain safe environments for children. We work alongside businesses, families, treatment facilities, and the state to promote accountability, safety, and second chances.

At the heart of everything we do is this: we provide answers, we support responsibility, and we contribute to stronger families and safer communities.

If someone wants to start a business, what's advice that will help them?

If someone wants to start a business, my advice is this:

Start with purpose, not just profit.

Money can motivate you in the beginning, but purpose is what sustains you when things get hard and they will get hard. You have to believe deeply in what you’re building. When your business solves a real problem or serves people in a meaningful way, it becomes bigger than you. That’s what gives you resilience.

Second, be prepared to outwork your doubts. Entrepreneurship will stretch you mentally, emotionally, and financially. There will be a lot of moments of uncertainty. Don’t let fear make your decisions let strategy and faith in your vision guide you.

Also, protect your reputation like it’s your greatest asset because it is. Integrity, consistency, and professionalism will open more doors than shortcuts ever will.

And finally, start before you feel “ready.” Growth happens in motion. You refine as you go. Just make sure that whatever you build, you build it with heart, discipline, and a commitment to excellence.

What was one feedback from a happy customer/client that you won't forget about?

One of the most memorable cases was helping confirm paternity for a father who had been separated from his child when his child was 2 years old. The results were confirmed when the child was 10 years old and allowed him to establish legal rights and begin the process of reunification. Seeing the relief and joy on his face was something special and it reminded me why this work matters. Our services aren’t just about science or solving another case they’re about healing families and giving children the stability they deserve.

Where do you see your company in the future?

In the next five years, I want Medical Concierge to be providing mobile phlebotomy as another service and I want Medical Concierge to be the trusted name throughout Texas. We plan to expand our partnerships with legal professionals, schools, healthcare orgabizations and community organizations while also investing in new technology to make services faster and even more accessible such as virtual drug testing. My vision is to create a model of care that other communities can replicate one where judgment-free, mobile healthcare is not the exception but the standard.

What is the biggest misconception about your industry?

The biggest misconception about my industry is that it’s purely clinical and transactional—that it’s just about collecting samples and delivering results.

In reality, it is deeply human work.

With DNA testing, people often think it’s a cold, scientific process. While accuracy and chain of custody are critical, what many don’t see is the emotional weight behind each case. Families are navigating uncertainty, fear, hope, and sometimes heartbreak. It requires compassion, discretion, and emotional intelligence just as much as technical precision.

With drug testing, there’s also a misconception that it’s only about “catching” someone or enforcing rules. In truth, it’s about accountability, safety, recovery, and protection. We support businesses, yes but we also support rehabilitation centers, parents trying to guide their children, and guardians who must remain compliant to provide safe environments for minors. It’s about maintaining standards that protect communities.

This industry isn’t just about testing it’s about responsibility, trust, and helping people move forward with clarity and structure.

What has been one of your biggest struggle building your business and how did you deal with it?

One of my biggest struggles in building my business has been earning trust in an industry where credibility is everything.

When you’re dealing with DNA results that can impact a child’s future, or drug testing that affects someone’s employment, recovery, or guardianship, people are understandably cautious. As a growing business, I had to prove that I could deliver the same level of professionalism, accuracy, and integrity as larger, established companies.

I dealt with that challenge by focusing on consistency and excellence in every single case no shortcuts, no compromises. I invested in proper training, strict chain-of-custody procedures, strong partnerships with accredited laboratories, and clear communication with clients. Most importantly, I treated every client with respect and empathy.

Over time, word-of-mouth became my strongest marketing tool. Trust isn’t built overnight it’s built case by case, family by family, contract by contract. That struggle ultimately strengthened me as a business owner and reinforced the values that define Medical Concierge today: integrity, discretion, and accountability.

What was your favorite music artist and athlete growing up?

My favorite music artist was actually a group called Maná, a famous Mexican pop-rock band. My favorite athlete growing up was Deon Sanders.

Any shoutouts you want to make?

Absolutely. I have to give a heartfelt shoutout to my close circle of friends. They have been such a strong support system throughout my journey building this business.

Entrepreneurship can feel isolating at times the long hours, the risks, the pressure of responsibility but they’ve been my sounding board, my encouragers, and sometimes my gentle reality check. They’ve celebrated the wins with me, prayed with me through the uncertain seasons, and reminded me of my purpose when I felt stretched thin.

Having people who genuinely believe in you, who speak life into your vision, and who stand by you when things aren’t glamorous that’s priceless. I truly wouldn’t be where I am without that kind of loyalty and love behind me.
