Founder Interview
Elson Beluli
My advice is to start with your purpose and then back it up with real execution. Listen to customers early, understand the work they truly need, and build your business around…

So nice to meet you! First off, what’s your name? Tell our readers a bit about yourself—where you’re from originally and where you live now.
Hi, my name is Elson Beluli and I was born in a small, beautiful town, Dibër, in the north of Albania. I moved to Berlin, Germany in 2009, where I studied International Business Management. In 2015 I moved to the US to join my family, and I currently live in Astoria, Queens, with my wonderful wife Angelina and our son Ethan!
Tell us one thing you love about where you live now.
One thing I truly love about living in Astoria is the sense of community and the way the neighborhood brings so many cultures together. There is always something to discover!
Tell us a little more about what your company does and how it started. How does it help your customers?
My company Mega Group is a general contractor construction business that started in 2018. It began as a decision fueled by motivation, inspiration, and opportunity—the belief that I could make a real impact on how people live. We help homeowners and businesses bring their spaces to life through renovations, remodeling, home improvements and buildouts.
We help customers by improving their space and comfort and delivering reliable, high-quality construction, so they feel confident about the result and enjoy their home or workspace every day. What makes our approach different is transparency, clear communication, craftsmanship, keeping schedules, a trustworthy process, attention to detail and, last but not least, the loyalty we have to our customers!
If someone wants to start a business, what advice would you give them?
My advice is to start with your purpose and then back it up with real execution. Listen to customers early, understand the work they truly need, and build your business around trust. Stay confident—don’t get discouraged by the hard parts—and learn from every project. Most importantly, focus on the impact you want to create. When customers feel safe and cared for during a build or renovation, your reputation grows.
What is one piece of feedback from a happy customer or client that you won't forget?
"I trust you." It happens very often, and it is a great pleasure to hear it, but at the same time a very big responsibility to not disappoint them.
Where do you see your company in the future?
In the future I see my company growing to become a go-to choice for local customers. Someone they trust for renovations, home improvements and construction projects of all sizes. My vision is to build a reputation that lasts by delivering quality work.
What is the biggest misconception about your industry?
One big misconception about the construction industry is that it's only about the final result, not the process. People often think construction is simple or that problems are unavoidable, but the truth is that good planning, clear communication, and attention to detail prevent most issues. When expectations are managed and the job is handled professionally from day one, customers get a smoother experience and a better outcome.
What has been one of your biggest struggles building your business, and how did you deal with it?
One of my biggest struggles building my business was being able to pay my employees and keep the business running while the business was not making enough money! It was not easy, not at all! Carrying so much responsibility keeps you awake at night. I decided to do what I do best: being honest and transparent with my customers. People love honesty, authenticity and transparency. I built healthy and long-lasting relationships that kept my business growing!
Who was your favorite music artist and athlete growing up?
I never was much into music, but I surely loved sports, especially soccer. I'm a big fan of the Italian soccer team Juventus. I grew up watching every game on weekends with my father. Best memories of my life!
Any shoutouts you want to make?
Absolutely. I want to thank my wife and my son for being my real motivation to do better every day; my mentor Roland Seeman, business owner of the prestigious, well-respected and loved restaurant Balade in Manhattan; and, last but not least, my business partner Ardi Brasha for being so genuine and always there when needed the most!
