So nice to meet you! First off, what’s your name? Tell our readers a bit about yourself—where you’re from originally and where you live now.

Hi, I’m Dr. Johnimel Bianco. As the first doctor in my family—and with a name that often surprises people who expect a male provider—I’m a Jersey-based general dentist, business owner, and healthcare advocate. I’m heavily involved in organized dentistry as a Board Trustee and Past President of the Hudson County Dental Society, alongside serving on multiple committees for the New Jersey Dental Association. Outside of work, you can usually find me training for marathons, practicing yoga, or spending time with my husband and our two children.

Tell us one thing you love about where you live now.

What I love most about living in New Jersey is the incredible balance it offers. You get the fast-paced, dynamic energy of being right outside New York City—which comes with amazing food, culture, and sports—paired with beautiful neighborhoods, parks, and tight-knit communities that are wonderful for raising a family.

Tell us a little more about what your company does and how it started. How does it help your customers?

I own and operate All Care General Dentistry, located in Jersey City, New Jersey. We provide comprehensive, patient-centered dental care, integrating advanced clinical technologies to ensure the highest standard of treatment. I started the practice with a clear mission: to make the world a better place one smile at a time, creating a welcoming environment where patients feel genuinely cared for rather than just treated. We help our patients by alleviating dental anxiety, restoring oral health, improving their overall wellness, and giving them smiles they can feel completely confident in.

If someone wants to start a business, what advice would you give them?

Embrace resilience and lean into lifelong learning. Whether you are opening a healthcare practice or launching a retail brand, the early days require immense grit and adaptability. Don’t wait for perfection before you start, but do invest in building a strong foundation: surround yourself with mentors, prioritize listening to your customers or patients, and take care of your own well-being so you can lead with clarity and stamina.

What is one piece of feedback from a happy customer or client that you won't forget?

While there isn't just one single moment, some of the most rewarding feedback comes from patients who start out with severe dental anxiety and gradually transform into feeling completely comfortable and genuinely excited about their oral health. I also love hearing how much patients appreciate our whole-body approach. When we take their blood pressure, ask about their sleep, and review their medical history, it often opens their eyes to how deeply connected the mouth is to the rest of the body. Because I am so passionate about overall wellness, I often talk about fitness with my patients, and it’s been incredible when they share how those conversations inspired them to start walking, running, or working out themselves. Hearing patients take ownership of their total health—from their mouth to their lifestyle—makes every bit of it worthwhile.

Where do you see your company in the future?

In the future, I see All Care General Dentistry continuing to be a pillar of comprehensive health in our community. I want to expand our services by integrating the latest technology—whether that means leveraging AI or utilizing innovative restorative products that help patients minimize the risk of getting fillings altogether. Ultimately, my goal is to keep evolving so we can help our patients keep their natural teeth healthy and in their mouths forever, all while strengthening our focus on whole-body wellness.

What is the biggest misconception about your industry?

The biggest misconception is that visiting the dentist has to be a stressful or painful experience, and that dentistry is purely “cosmetic” or just about fixing cavities. Modern dentistry is incredibly high-tech, comfortable, and proactive. We aren't just treating teeth; we are screening for systemic health issues, managing airway and sleep disorders, and protecting a patient's longevity and whole-body health.

What has been one of your biggest struggles building your business, and how did you deal with it?

One of the biggest early challenges was balancing the rigorous demands of clinical excellence with the realities of being a small business owner—managing operations, staffing, and financial strategy without a formal corporate background. I dealt with that initially by shifting my mindset: treating business management as a skill that could be learned, investing in continuous education, and empowering a trusted team.

However, building a practice also means navigating shifting economic landscapes. Ever since COVID, keeping up with dramatic increases in everything from supply costs to labor has been a constant hurdle. Compounding that, insurance companies haven’t increased their fee schedules, meaning providers are effectively getting paid less while operational expenses rise. Because plans often don’t cover everything, it frequently puts us in the difficult position of acting as messengers and interpreters for our patients. I deal with these ongoing, industry-wide pressures by relying on that foundational team-building and operational efficiency we established, while maintaining total transparency so our patients always feel supported and informed.

Who was your favorite music artist and athlete growing up?

Growing up, my favorite athlete was easily Michael Jordan, the ultimate competitor and icon! Musically, I had two absolute favorites: Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. Mariah’s songs were so inspiring to me because she wrote deeply about the struggles of love and life, and tracks like “Make It Happen” really helped me believe in myself. At the same time, Whitney Houston was monumental; songs like “The Greatest Love of All” taught me how to love myself even more and gave me the belief to chase my goals.

Any shoutouts you want to make?

A massive shoutout to my incredible family for their endless love, patience, and support while I juggle running a practice, leadership roles in dentistry, and my marathon training. And of course, to my amazing team at All Care General Dentistry; our success is a direct reflection of their hard work and dedication every single day.
