So nice to meet you! First off, what’s your name? Tell our readers a bit about yourself—where you’re from originally and where you live now.

My name is Kevin "KJ" Davis Jr., and I am the owner and founder of KTG IT Solutions & Computer Repair. I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, where I developed a passion for technology and electronics at a young age. As a kid, I was always taking things apart, figuring out how they worked, and repairing electronics whenever I had the opportunity.

Today, I still call the Baltimore area home and proudly serve residents, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations throughout the community. Technology has been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember, and what started as a childhood interest eventually grew into a career and business dedicated to helping others solve their technology challenges.

Tell us one thing you love about where you live now?

One thing I love about where I live now is the rich culture and diversity. There's always something to learn, experience, and appreciate from the people and communities around me. Plus, we have the best seafood in the United States.

Tell us a little bit more about what your company does and how it started? How does it help your customers?

I launched KTG IT Solutions & Computer Repair in 2020 with a vision of providing reliable, affordable, and professional technology services to the community. KTG is an IT consulting and computer repair company that serves residents, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations with a wide range of technology needs.

The company was founded from my passion for technology and years of experience working in the IT field. I recognized that many individuals and organizations needed trustworthy technical support without the complexity or high costs often associated with larger providers. My goal was to create a company that delivers personalized service, practical solutions, and exceptional customer care.

Today, KTG IT Solutions helps customers with computer repair, IT consulting, network support, cybersecurity guidance, technology upgrades, and ongoing technical support. Whether it's helping a family get a computer back up and running, assisting a small business with its IT infrastructure, or supporting a nonprofit organization with technology solutions, our focus is on making technology work better for the people and organizations we serve.

If someone wants to start a business, what advice will help them?

My advice is simple: don't be afraid to start.

I've been repairing electronics since I was a kid, and looking back, I probably could have started my business at 22. Instead, I waited until I was 32 because I was scared, overthinking things, and constantly telling myself I wasn't ready yet.

One of the biggest lessons I've learned is that there will never be a perfect time to start. If you keep waiting until everything is perfect, you'll end up delaying your dreams. Start with what you know, use the resources you have, and continue learning along the way.

You're going to make mistakes, face challenges, and encounter setbacks—that's part of the journey. The key is to stay consistent, keep improving, and not let fear or procrastination hold you back. Ten years from now, you'll be much happier that you started than wondering what could have happened if you had.

What was one feedback from a happy customer/client that you won't forget about?

One of the most rewarding parts of my work is when a customer tells me I solved a problem that a phone store or another repair shop couldn't fix. Knowing that I was able to use my knowledge and experience to help someone when they thought they had run out of options is incredibly fulfilling.

I enjoy the challenge of diagnosing complex issues and finding solutions that others may have overlooked. Seeing the relief and satisfaction on a customer's face when their device is working again reminds me why I started this business. It's not just about repairing technology—it's about helping people, building trust, and making a positive impact in their day-to-day lives.

Where do you see your company in the future?

I see KTG IT Solutions continuing to grow its customer base, increase profitability, and expand its impact throughout the community. Our focus remains on providing exceptional customer service, reliable technology solutions, and building long-term relationships with the residents, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations we serve.

One of our major goals is to continue earning the trust of our customers and reach 300 five-star Google reviews. Every review represents a customer whose problem was solved and whose expectations were exceeded. As we grow, we want to maintain the same level of personalized service and quality workmanship that helped build our reputation from the beginning.

I'm excited about the future and the opportunities to expand our services, support more clients, and continue being a trusted technology partner for our community.

What is the biggest misconception about your industry?

One of the biggest misconceptions about the computer repair industry is that every problem requires replacing the device. Many people assume that when a computer, phone, or tablet stops working properly, the only solution is to buy a new one. In reality, many issues can be repaired for a fraction of the cost of replacement.

What has been one of your biggest struggles building your business and how did you deal with it?

One of the biggest challenges I've faced in the computer repair industry is dealing with customers who try to negotiate or haggle on pricing. Many people don't always see the value behind the years of experience, specialized tools, diagnostic skills, and time required to properly repair a device. They often compare independent repair businesses to large retail stores or focus only on the cost rather than the quality of the service being provided.

I learned that not every customer is the right customer, and it's important to stand behind the value of your work. Instead of competing solely on price, I focus on educating customers about the repair process, being transparent about costs, and explaining the benefits of a professional repair. When customers understand the expertise involved and the potential cost savings compared to replacing a device, they're more likely to appreciate the value being offered.

Over time, I've learned to confidently price my services, communicate expectations clearly, and focus on building relationships with customers who value quality, honesty, and reliable service. That approach has helped me attract loyal customers and grow my business through referrals and positive reviews.

What was your favorite music artist and athlete growing up?

Growing up, my favorite musician was the Moonwalker himself, Michael Jackson. I admired not only his incredible music and performances, but also his work ethic, creativity, and ability to connect with people around the world through his art.

When it comes to sports, my favorite athlete is the GOAT middle linebacker, Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens. I've always respected his leadership, passion, and relentless drive to be the best. His dedication to preparation, teamwork, and excellence is something that inspires me not only as a fan, but also as a business owner.

Both Michael Jackson and Ray Lewis represent greatness in their respective fields, and their commitment to their craft has left a lasting impression on me throughout my life.

Any shoutouts you want to make?

All of my day ones who supported me from the beginning. I won't list names because I risk forgetting someone.
