So nice to meet you! First off, what’s your name? Tell our readers a bit about yourself—where you’re from originally and where you live now.

Hey there! My name is Lillian London, but you can call me Lilly! I was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, in 1996 and lived in Anchorage, Alaska, for a short time as well. My family and I moved to Kansas City around 2002 and I’ve lived here for a majority of my life.

Tell us one thing you love about where you live now.

Being a foodie, I love how many different options there are for restaurants in Kansas City. We really enjoy attending the farmers market and grabbing a bite at The Opera House. There’s so much to do in the metro if you enjoy the hustle and bustle of the city.

Tell us a little more about what your company does and how it started. How does it help your customers?

I started my cleaning business around the end of 2021. I had been in the service industry for 10+ years and needed a change of scenery. I made a few posts to see if anyone would be interested in my services, and I was lucky enough to receive 90% of my clientele by word of mouth alone. I specialize in maintenance cleans, deep cleans, and organizing jobs.

If someone wants to start a business, what advice would you give them?

Always keep track of every expense, every dollar you make, and save up for income taxes. Getting organized was one of the hardest things I experienced in my first 2 years of running my business. Hire someone or find a friend to help you make a business spreadsheet to keep track of your cash flow. It’ll make things so much easier when you’re going through an audit. It’s tedious, but incredibly worthwhile.

What is one piece of feedback from a happy customer or client that you won't forget?

I had a client tell me once that not only do I clean her house physically, but she felt my energy cleaned her space too. That was probably one of the best compliments I’ve ever received in this industry. I get to be a part of so many people’s milestones, and it’s truly a blessing.

Where do you see your company in the future?

Hopefully in the next 2 years, I’d like to hire my first few employees. I see myself only growing in capacity and becoming a KC/MO household name.

What is the biggest misconception about your industry?

A lot of people think housekeeping is easy money, but they couldn’t be more wrong. You’re working out for about 6-8 hours a day, every day. You have to take care of your body if you want to sustain your workload.

What has been one of your biggest struggles building your business, and how did you deal with it?

My first year running my business I made $25k, but that absolutely tanked in my second and third years. I was making enough to get by, but that was about it. I rejoined the service industry in addition to running London Cleaning Services. By my fourth year, I was advised to do a large rebranding project, and that helped business pick up, so much so that I was able to leave my second job and be a business owner full-time.

What was your favorite music artist and athlete growing up?

I didn’t have a favorite athlete, but music was definitely more my passion. I listened to everything across the board from ’80s hip-hop to early 2000s emo music. My favorite band growing up was Circa Survive. They broke up in 2022, but are officially back as of 2026! I’m super excited to see what they do next.

Any shoutouts you want to make?

As always, I just want to thank my friends, family, and clients. I wouldn’t be here without you all, and I’m so thankful to have so many fantastic individuals who believe in me.

Where can our readers learn more about you and your company?

I’m on Facebook and Instagram! I also have a website where you can view my gallery at londoncleaning.homes.
