So nice to meet you! First off, what’s your name? Tell our readers a bit about yourself—where you’re from originally and where you live now.

Nice to meet you as well. Thank you for having me. My name is Nailah Asha Copeland. I am originally from NYC and I now reside in metro Atlanta, GA. I am a longtime entrepreneur in the beauty industry.

Tell us one thing you love about where you live now?

I love the comfort of what Atlanta allows me to indulge in.

Tell us a little bit more about what your company does and how it started? How does it help your customers?

My company, Asha's Salon & Spa, LLC, provides professional beauty services to all hair curl and texture types. I started my company 20 years ago to give a professional space to women desiring haircare for all style desires. I am able to help those with hair loss, as I am also a certified trichologist, giving women a level of confidence that comes with proper hair and scalp care.

If someone wants to start a business, what advice would you give them?

My advice to an aspiring entrepreneur is to find a good accountant and just start. You will learn a lot along the way. Pay attention to the economy.

What was one feedback from a happy customer/client that you won't forget about?

I love when a client smiles and their expectations are surpassed.

Where do you see your company in the future?

I personally see expansion into the barbering world, offering men more from my trichology knowledge and more in preventive care and hair loss solutions.

What is the biggest misconception about your industry?

The biggest misconception would have to be assuming, “It is just hair, it will grow back.”

What has been one of your biggest struggle building your business and how did you deal with it?

One of my biggest struggles has to be keeping up with the economic changes of the past few decades.

What was your favorite music artist and athlete growing up?

Definitely Michael Jordan, as a basketball fan. I don't think I had a single favorite artist, but I was definitely a hip hop fan as a South Bronx native.

Any shoutouts you want to make?

Wow, there are so many people that I could name. I definitely want to pay homage to the many men and women who encouraged me, supported me, and influenced me since childhood. I have been fortunate to have a great village.
