Hey! So nice to speak with you! Can you tell our readers a little bit more about yourself? Where are you originally from and where do you live now?
My name is Ronnie Schmitz.
I was born in Southern California, and grew up in the City of Orange which is in the County of Orange.
My UTAH journey started in November 2023 after I came to visit my mother, step-father, and younger brother and his family in Lehi.
I have been truly blessed with opportunities for work, and had saved some money while working overseas on a US Army Garrison.
32 months (2 trips) on a small island atoll in the Pacific Ocean within the Marshall Islands. The USAGKA (United States America Garrison Kwajalein Atoll) was an amazing experience
In January 2024, I eventually purchased a town home in Saratoga Springs, Utah. My mom, step-father, and brother's family have been here since 2007 in Lehi, so it was a decision to be closer to my family.
Tell us one thing you love about where you live now?
I love the peace and tranquility of Saratoga Springs. Amazing people here, and I look forward to creating new friendships and relationships.
Tell us a little bit more about what your company does and how it started? How does it help your customers?
I have been in the construction materials testing and inspection industry for 22 years, I and have been truly blessed with my career.
The name for my business actually came from my friends that I have known since 2008 /2009 from a church I attended in Perris, California.
Growing as a man, and as an adult has had tough times.
I have been blessed to have overcome many of life’s battles (and adictions) with the help of my faith in Jesus Christ.
My friends John and Carmen Smith sent me a plaque to place in my new home. The plaque had Nikao and a verse from 1 John 5:4 with my last name.
Nikao is a Greek term from the Bible which means to overcome, to conquer, to prevail
This was the meaning and driving force to begin a business “Nikao Home Inspections LLC”.
Ultimately to give Glory to the Man upstairs for making me the man I am today.
I am proud that I have had the opportunity to overcome a lot of life’s challenges and hopefully provide positive outcomes through Nikao Home Inspections LLC.
Nikao Home Inspections LLC will provide a non-invasive, visual examination of the accessible areas of a residential property (as defined in the SOP), performed for a fee, which is designed to identify defects within specific systems and components.
If someone wants to start a business, what's advice that will help them?
I am new to the small business, and have had struggles, but I would say do not give up. Life is like a vapor, make the most of it, and follow your dreams!
What was one feedback from a happy customer/client that you won't forget about?
I have only had one customer so far. I sent a thank you card and a brand new Bible in the mail to follow up my Inspections. Paul responded, "Thanks for sharing. It’s much appreciated "
Where do you see your company in the future?
I hope and pray that my company will grow, and I am able to provide the local community with the information needed to make an educated decision when purchasing a home or property. Building new business relationships is my goal!
What is the biggest misconception about your industry?
Home Inspections are not required for newer homes, and are only beneficial for older homes. Newer homes often have problems with poor workmanship, and construction defects too, that can be revealed with home inspections.
What has been one of your biggest struggle building your business and how did you deal with it?
My struggle has been getting noticed and making new business connections. My hope is with this article going live, I will be given opportunities to assist the local communities with home inspections.
What was your favorite music artist and athlete growing up?
My favorite music growing up was alternative and punk rock. Social Distortion was favorite band. Favorite athlete was Ron Cey of the LA Dodgers.
