Founder Interview
Will Lukang
If you’re thinking about starting a business, my first advice is to be patient and be courageous. Building a business takes time, and there will be setbacks, rejections, and…

So nice to meet you! First off, what’s your name? Tell our readers a bit about yourself—where you’re from originally and where you live now.
Hello! My name is Will Lukang. I was born and raised in the Philippines to Chinese parents, and today I call New Jersey home. I’m married and a proud father of two young adults.
I spent 34 years in technology, including 24 years in leadership, where I led global teams, large-scale transformations, and delivery organizations.
Today, I’m an author, coach, speaker, podcast host and producer. I help people navigate their careers, especially those who feel stuck, uncertain, or unsure about their next move.
After decades of leading and coaching people, I’ve learned something important: most people aren’t stuck because they lack intelligence, talent, or experience. They’re stuck because moving forward often means letting go of something familiar.
It might be a role, an identity, a company, a definition of success, or simply the comfort of knowing what tomorrow looks like.
That’s where I help. I help people gain clarity about what they want next, recognize what may be holding them back, and build the confidence and strategy to move forward.
Tell us one thing you love about where you live now.
I love the town I live in because it’s peaceful and has plenty of beautiful places to take a stroll. I also appreciate the sense of community—people are friendly, welcoming, and respectful.
Tell us a little more about what your company does and how it started. How does it help your customers?
Kairos Elite Partnership was founded on August 1, 2024. The name Kairos means “the opportune moment”—the idea that the most important time is the present, and that meaningful progress begins by taking action now.
We focus on three core service areas.
First, through our Career Catalyst Program, we work with individuals who are navigating career transitions, feeling stuck, or trying to determine their next step. We help them gain clarity, identify opportunities, and develop a practical path forward.
Second, we provide Learning and Development solutions for small and medium-sized organizations. We work alongside HR and leadership teams to strengthen their existing capabilities and help develop, engage, and grow their people.
Third, we help organizations prepare for the future through AI Strategy and Succession Planning. Our goal is to help leaders thoughtfully integrate AI while ensuring they are developing the people and leadership capabilities needed for long-term success.
What differentiates Kairos Elite Partnership is our customized approach. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. We take the time to understand each client’s needs, challenges, culture, and goals—and then tailor our programs and solutions to help them achieve meaningful and sustainable results.
At Kairos, we believe the right opportunity doesn’t always come someday. Sometimes, the right moment is now.
If someone wants to start a business, what advice would you give them?
If you’re thinking about starting a business, my first advice is to be patient and be courageous. Building a business takes time, and there will be setbacks, rejections, and moments when things don’t go the way you expected. Don’t take everything personally. Learn from it, adjust, and keep moving forward.
Second, learn sales and marketing. You can have an outstanding product or service, but if you can’t communicate its value and reach the right people, it will be difficult to grow. Sales and marketing may not come naturally to you, but they are skills you can—and must—develop.
Finally, don’t try to do too many things at once. Pick a few things and learn to do them exceptionally well before you expand.
This was one of the hardest lessons we learned at Kairos. In the beginning, we tried to be everything to everyone. We eventually realized that saying yes to everything can actually slow your growth because your message becomes unclear and your energy becomes scattered.
Focus first. Build credibility. Get really good at solving a specific problem. Then expand.
You don’t have to build everything on day one. You just have to keep building the right things, one step at a time.
What is one piece of feedback from a happy customer or client that you won't forget?
The first came from a coaching client who told me that our work together helped her get unstuck and start making meaningful progress. She shared that she used to feel overwhelmed by everything coming at her. Through our coaching and training, she learned how to step back, gain clarity, and handle challenges with greater confidence and intention. Hearing that was meaningful because it wasn’t just about helping her career; it changed how she approaches difficult situations.
The second came from people who attended my speaking engagements. They told me that my message resonated with them because it was practical and relatable. They especially appreciated walking away with three actionable ideas they could immediately put into practice.
That feedback reinforces something I strongly believe: whether I’m coaching one person or speaking to a room full of people, I want people to leave with something they can use to make meaningful progress.
Where do you see your company in the future?
Looking ahead, we see Kairos Elite Partnership continuing to grow in three key areas.
First, we plan to expand our coaching practice, helping more professionals gain clarity, navigate career transitions, and move forward with confidence.
Second, we want to partner with more organizations to develop and grow their people. Our goal is to become a trusted extension of their teams, providing customized leadership, learning, and development solutions that address their specific needs.
Finally, we plan to expand our global partnerships, collaborating with organizations and professionals in other countries to broaden our reach, exchange ideas, and create greater impact.
Ultimately, our growth isn’t simply about becoming a bigger company. It’s about helping more people and organizations make meaningful progress when the right moment presents itself.
What is the biggest misconception about your industry?
One of the biggest misconceptions is that coaches and consultants have all the answers. We don’t. Our role is to ask the right questions, bring an outside perspective, and help people discover the best path forward for themselves.
What has been one of your biggest struggles building your business, and how did you deal with it?
One of my biggest struggles was learning where to focus. In the beginning, we tried to do too many things and serve too many different needs. I learned that being busy doesn’t always mean you’re making progress.
We addressed it by becoming more intentional about who we serve, what we do best, and where we can create the most value. It’s still a journey, but today we’re much more disciplined about where we invest our time and energy.
What was your favorite music artist and athlete growing up?
My favorite music comes from The Beatles and the Bee Gees. Their songs are timeless, and I’ve enjoyed listening to them for many years.
My favorite athlete is Michael Jordan. I admire his discipline, dedication, and relentless commitment to becoming better. What stands out most to me is that despite his extraordinary talent, he remained coachable and continued to work on his game. That’s a mindset I deeply respect.
Any shoutouts you want to make?
First and foremost, it’s my wife, Jane, and our two daughters. They inspire me every day to be my best and remind me why the work I do matters.
Second is the Human Advantage Factor (https://haf-org.com/) community that I founded. I’m inspired by a group of people who genuinely support one another, share what they know, and help each other grow and develop. Seeing that spirit of collaboration and service come to life continues to motivate me.
